I'm sure you've heard of Chase Community Giving.
If you're at all connected to the Chicago theatre world you've undoubtedly received dozens of solicitous e-mails/twitters/Facebook messages asking you to log in and vote for so-and-so's theatre company. The prize for enough votes is a grant worth at least a cool $20,000.
In essence it's a popularity contest, which is an incredibly stupid way to award grant money. That said, it's a popularity contest that Chicago is winning.
